Two Grannies Headband - Free Crochet Pattern

Yay! This is the fifth post of the year for the 2017 GrannySpiration Challenge! I am so excited to see what everyone has been working on, especially you! At the end of this post, you will find the information for this month's giveaway, and link up.

I was feeling very uninspired and unmotivated for my May 2017 GrannySpiration Challenge Project, and didn’t have anything worked up until this headband the day before. I decided I was going to wear my new top out to lunch with my mom, and usually I wear my hair clipped back and parted on the side, but this day, I decided that I needed a matching headband to wear that fit in the space from the parted side, and go clip-less, and so this Two Grannies Headband was created just in time to wear out.
From Your Hosts: Rainbow Blanket (Crochet Inspiration) from Kat Kat Katoen, Simple Granny Coaster (Free Crochet Pattern) from Rhelena, Delicate Earrings from Crochet is the Way, Granny Square Wrap (Crochet Inspiration with Diagram for Edging) from Atelier Marie-Lucienne, Roll Collar Poncho (Free Crochet Pattern in German) from Hakelfieber, Handwarmers (Free Crochet Pattern in Dutch) from Mariam's Creations, and Granny Square Soap Cozy (Free Crochet Pattern) from EyeLoveKnots (that's me!).

Please make sure to stop by our other co-host and see what they've been working on too. In the image above, you'll find their projects (and mine) from last month's challenge.

Marjan from Atelier Marie-Lucienne
Sandra from Hakelfieber Austria (in German)
Sigrid from Kat Kat Katoen
Jenny from Crochet is the Way
Rhelena from Crochet n Crafts
Mariam from Mariam's Creations: Recycle and Create

Materials I Used:
     - Small Amount of #10 Crochet Thread - I used Hobby Lobby's Artiste #10 Thread in the Orchid and Black colorways
     - B2mm Crochet Hook
     - #20 Tapestry Needle for Weaving in Ends

Material Notes:
Yarn Alternatives: Aunt Lydia's #10 Crochet Thread

Time Spent:
I had my headband ready to wear in about half an hour.

Measurements:
1 7/8" wide by 4" long (26" long from tie to tie)

Gauge:
     With B2mm Hook & Artiste #10 Thread: 9 SC = 1" Wide

Abbreviations:
     - DC - Double Crochet
     - SC - Single Crochet

Pattern Notes:
Beginning chain 2 counts as a stitch, but chain 1 does not.

Chain 2 at the end of the first round of the squares is intentional. I've found with a chain 3 at the end of the first round, it makes this corner uneven.

Join to the first stitch, not the beginning chain.
